Runway trends 2012

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Jan• 04•12

Took me a long time to post this, but I am sure this is great info now that we are in 2012!

Just a little roundup from Bazaar on Runway trends:

1. Retro romance – it is a new modern spin on ladylike retro, a lot of pastel pink and light blue, patterns, and glitter.

2. Roaring 20′s – now you can pull out all your Halloween flapper dresses and wear them casually every day!

3. Softly suited – lots of white and light suits, and this time they are not sharply tailored, but very soft and voluptuous.

4. Power flowers – just any eye-striking flower patterns. Bazaar reminds us not to wear out mother’s old dresses :)

5. Sportif spice – we have already seen some celebrities wearing sporty pants. Well, this sporty trend is everywhere in clothing.

6. Tribal time – I already spoke about “Going Africa” several times. This one is my favorite trend, especially now that I can wear it without looking boho, but posh.

BCBG Max Azria Resort 2012 collection

OMG I found some clothes for my Puerto Rico trip! Now I just need to decide which ones to get. BCBG has these new cargo pants that fit me perfectly (which, by the way, does not happen at all). Marisol took my picture trying on a jersey dress, I think it looks great, your thoughts?

Spring 2012 Nails

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Dec• 28•11

As I polished my nails with lavender Essie, a thought ran through my mind that I mind be behind on my nail polishes… So I went through some style websites and found the colors for Spring. To make it simple and short, I will just name them:

1. Neutrals – any beige/light pink/light brown colors that are barely there

2. Rose Pink

3. Deep Burgundy (I am so happy I have this one in my collection!)

4. Cherry red

5. Coral

6. Chartreuse

And some finishes to try this season are sequined tips, hologram Minx, pearly finishes, ombre effects, jockey stripes, and checkered manicures.

Nicole Miller + Indego Africa

Remember how I wrote in one of my recent posts about tribal patterns for Spring? Well, I just found a wonderful collaboration of Nicole Miler and Indego Africa that will please many many girls! Cozy and warm

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Dec• 11•11

Just a couple of days ago I got this amazing sweater at BCBG MAXAZRIA and still can’t get over how much I love it! It is from a new collection, and it is the warmest and coziest thing on the whole planet. I paired it up with BCBG’s beige leather leggings, which I wear as pants. Normally, they are long to my ankles, but I rolled them up, so they can go well with the boots.

Yesterday we went to see the city skyline from the Twin Peaks street. I actually tried going there a couple of years ago with my mom, but got completely lost and discouraged to keep looking. Now that I went there, I realized that I should have kept looking back then… the view is absolutely stunning! It definitely helped that the weather was pretty nice.

Lady Gaga has done it again!

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Dec• 06•11

I just watched the new Lady Gaga’s video yesterday! It had almost 10 million views last night, right now it is at almost 11 million. With the video being 13 minutes and 51 seconds, I actually watched every single second of it, it is absolutely great. I felt like I was watching a movie.

This single video also means a lot for fashion! Since Gaga is such a trend-setter, you know french berets are now going to be on at least every 5th girl. Of course, there is a lot of leather, but we know leather is at its peak right now. With so many references to ballet, I bet started by the “Black Swan” fashion is going to regain the popularity. My biggest favorite, though, is the hair. First, Gaga has black bob with bangs. Then she had this sleek hairdo with her short blond hair combed to the back and big bangs teased on the front. Now, I only wish I could do that with my hair! Anyways, please watch – it is really worth it!

Going “Africa” with BCBG Max Azria

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Dec• 05•11

I received my December Bazaar issue in CA, which was either first or second piece of mail I got here! I don’t think I used to feel this way about magazines before, but now I check my mail for Bazaar thinking that it must be almost time. I also think I feel that way only about Bazaar. I tried reading Cosmopolitan and In Style and they just don’t cut it for me. Now, I might try some other magazines like Vogue and Marie Claire (Please, tell me what are you favorite magazines).

Anyways, one of the Spring trends identified by Bazaar is a tribal theme: Missoni, Donna Karan, Burberry are some of the fashion brands designing tribal pieces. But today I watched my lovely BCBG Max Azria’s Spring 2012 show and spotted the same theme.

Now, the collection is not at the stores yet, but you can definitely start going tribal before the Spring hits – it usually is hard to find exactly the pieces you want.

Casual Sunday in Stanford

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Dec• 03•11

Today I went to Stanford for the first time. It is gorgeous! It is just amazing how big the campus is, I am definitely jealous of the students who get to see all that beauty every day! Well, if they see it …. I mean all that studying!

If you wonder about the outfit (I doubt that!), it was very casual: Express dress and leggings, the necklace is from Forever 21. I don’t even remember where I got the sweater and the boots. I do love that sweater very much, though – so cozy and warm.

And these are just a couple of shots of the campus:

Russian-themed postcards and Olsen twins

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Nov• 30•11

What do Olsen twins have to do with Russian-themed cards?! Just that they collaborated with 3 bloggers to design e-cards inspired by Russian culture to promote their collection for JCPenny. After taking a look at the cards, I actually got intrigued… Ad had to check out the collection, good job, twins! The collection is called Olsenboye.

Now, we actually can get these e-cards for free at Paperlesspost, just need to sign up. I don’t think these cards would work for Christmas, though. If you want to send the cards, then do so only for NYE or for Russian Christmas on January 7, or not connected with any Holiday at all. The choice, of course, is yours, but as a native Russian, that’s what I feel appropriate. And now it is time for the JCPenny collection, fellow competition 2011 members, I hope you have a slogan for this one!

These are my favorite pieces, especially the shorts:

BCBG Max Azria Spring 2011 Ad campaign

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Nov• 29•11

Just looked at the images of BCBG Max Azria Spring 2011 Ad Campaing! I know it is so last year, but I love them so much! So effortless, so elegant! I definitely feel that this is the way fashion is going – very lady-like, yet not overdone. I think, enough said, enjoy the images.

By the way, I really want to add that BCBG does not follow trends – THEY ARE trends! Just take a look at that sheer black dress, the black see-through sheer was so in last summer! Now… if you want to stay up on trends this season, just buy something at BCBG… you know it is going to be trendy!
