White and bright

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - May• 18•12

I feel like a star with BCBG posting this picture on their Facebook. And most I love about it – is how great my new haircut looks. My dear Kathleen, please, don’t be jealous, but I found a great hairdresser in the Bay :) just as good as you are! So, for all my Reno friends, if you ever wonder where to get an amazing haircut, my friend Kathleen owns a very cool hair salon Chrome Kitten Inc & Salon. Go there!

For my Bay friends, Sandra Moreno is my new love! She works in downtown San Jose. Sandra told me so much about styling my hair, I was amazed!

And I am so proud of how healthy my hair is now. Yeah, I did a lot of damage to it with coloring and highlighting. I have been color-free for 2 years! But I don’t promise that I will not color it soon :)

And for my Spring must-haves: white blazer & anything bright or neon. They will help update any wardrobe!

Nautical Sunday in Los Gatos

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - May• 13•12

Well, great times yesterday night with the girls and a couple of boys brought me weakness and dizziness today. So not to waist a perfect Sunday we decided to at least walk the streets of downtown Los Gatos and have a lunch there.

Lately, I am in very nautical mood. Makes me feel like summer.

Stripes – BCBG MAXAZRIA

T-shirt – The Gap

Jeans – Just Cavalli

Necklace – Forever 21

Handbag – Zara

Flip-flops – Jessica Simpson

We stumbled upon Francesca’s Collections store, where I found this amazing watch to match my outfit. Only $20! When the sales associate told me the price, I really tried not to drop my jaw :)

Beauty Goodies

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - May• 10•12

First of all, I haven’e shared anything in so long!!! I have so much to write about, but had so little time! I have really good excuse, though.

First, I got a job in downtown Mountain View as an online marketing associate. It has been 3 weeks since the start and I am getting a bit more comfortable.

Second, I got another job as a hostess at the Scratch Restaurant also in downtown Mountain View. I started on Tuesday and loved it sooo much! So now you know where to find when I don’t post too long again.

To finish off all the great news, I also got a letter from Gap Inc. about relocation and some papers. After the long depressing winter, things are finally great in my part of the world.

But I will stop talking about myself now and start talking about some goodies I recently received from my absolutely fantastic cousin Regina. I did also add Nars lipstick to that mix.

1. The first one is Sugar Kisses Mini Lip duo from Beauty Insider at Sephora. Perfect gift for summer, even if it was re-gifted to me. Now, Regina being a doctor should know better than giving away SPF 15 lip treatments, but I will not complain. The pack has two sticks – one regular and one rose tinted. The rose one is my absolute favorite! Even when I want to have bare make up on, it still gives my face a little brightness.

2. I was dreaming of Visionnaire from Lancome ever since I saw it advertised. Oh, it was supposed to even the wrinkles, the pores and the overall look! I was so happy to see it (a sample size) in Regina’s cosmetic bag. I was double-happy when she told me that I can have it. You see, her skin is just flawless… I almost went through my sample size, when I received this new one! By the way, the sample size is .24 oz, while 1 oz of the product costs $84. My value of two products – $40!!!!

3. Nars Jungle Red lipstick is included in this list of goodies for one sole reason – I love it! I only used this particular color for two years now. It has that perfect tint of orange, it is so creamy and long-lasting – what is there not to love!

4. And then there is Bare Minerals All Over Face Color in Clear Radiance. You are supposed to just sweep it over your cheeks for the luminous summer glow. But I found another use to it – as an eye shadow.

5. I don’t have any particular feelings for Clinique’s superbalm moisturizing gloss in grapefruit color. Probably only because I am not too fond of using lip glosses at all. It is definitely creamy, but that is all I can say.

6. Burt’s Bees Hand Salve has to be one of my favorite goodies. It is very rich, so I only put it on the top of my hands and rub them together. In Burt’s own words it is “made with botanical oils, herbs and beeswax, specially formulated to deeply penetrate dry, chapped hands and other areas that need extra moisturizing”. I read in one review how the lady uses it for her dry feet, elbows and cuticles. Great idea, because this product is definitely greasy and designed for very dry damaged skin.

7. And lastly, Shiseido’s Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 Eye Contour Cream is another rich solution for your skin. I love it especially because I received two samples  .17 oz each –  $22.5 value, since the .51 oz is $55. Who doesn’t love freebies. Although, I am thinking about becoming a consumer, once the freebies run out :) . But if I don’t , dear Shiseido, please don’t feel bad. At least I gave you a rave review!

That is all for now, all my darlings, I need some time to rest before my next post!

The Gap Inspired – vibrant colors

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Apr• 12•12

My mood today is just like I said in the headline. I am so The Gap inspired. Yes, the Gap that was made fun of on “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and the Gap that had bad trend forecast and overstack the inventory to later lose a lot of profit. Well, that Gap is officially The Place To Shop for Spring!!! I am not kidding you, forget everything you ever known about The Gap and go there tomorrow to see for yourself.

Well, to start with, I check random websites for new arrivals instead of watching TV… I also religiously check all Gap Inc. brands. I already bragged that I will start the Retail Management Program with them in September, haven’t I? For that exact reason, whenever I go to the mall I visit all three mall brands – Old Navy, the Gap , and Banana Republic. Today I did just that. I always find something I like in each store, not only Gap owned, any store. But the Gap just completely swept me off my feet today! Good thing I had a hair appointment I had to hurry to, otherwise my wallet would be suffering. I did leave as a happy owner of this nail polish and clutch:

And more on nail polishes. They are $6 and all the colors you must have this season – Dandelion, Coral, Mint, etc.

I was debating between this color, deep blue, and highlighter yellow. I would take them all. I wanted to post links to the other ones. Turns out, Gap doesn’t sell these clutches not the nails polishes online. The store is a real hidden treasure. I kept liking everything my eyes would lay on. I know this store is my next stop for some bright denim!

Mint, mint, mint!

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Apr• 09•12

What can I say, I love everything about mint. When growing up, I always asked my mom to put some mint leaves in my tea. This year I found out that my fascination with mint does not end with its taste. When I saw this skirt at BCBG, I knew it had to be mine!

Later, I saw this tank top at H&M. I really like it how they are two different shades of mint. So here are the links:

Skirt – BCBGMAXAZRIA $138

Top – H&M could not find the link, but I believe some stores still have it $17.95

Necklace – Forever 21

Blazer – Express

Shoes – Zara

Flower – H&M

My friend gave me these gloves over a month ago. They are true retro, but this is first time I styled them with an outfit. I really want to work them into my wardrobe for Fall 2012 :) with sweaters and jackets.

A trend not just for Easter – Pastels

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Apr• 05•12

It is not new to anyone that pastels are one of the biggest trends right now. I am very slowly getting into it. I guess, that is why it took me so long to write about this trend. In my personal opinion, the trend looks great on pale blond girls. I am trying to change that opinion… Who What Wear wrote a great article on pastels, and it inspired me to give them another big try!

Bloggers are also all over this trend:

Polyvore’s collages are also all light pink, blue and mint:

So I got absolutely inspired and painted my nails :) ))) Now, I am ready for Easter!

Fashion Star!

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Mar• 16•12

Oh, the power of the almighty social media! I am following H&M’s Facebook Feed, and read that “Fashion Star was a success”. That instantly got me interested in what was that mysterious Fashion Star. And the next day I stumbled upon it on Hulu. Had to watch! Was not disappointed!

To begin with, yes it is another fashion design show. No, it is not yet another fashion design show. This one is different! To my surprise, this show is more about business and opportunity than about fame. In the nutshell, 14 designers are competing against each other. The judges are buyers from Macy’s, Sacks Fifth Avenue, and H&M. The mentors are Jessica Simpson, Nicole Ricci, and John Varvatos (never seen him before!). And the host is Elle Macpherson. By the way, Elle is an owner of Elle Macpherson intimates, and here line is carried by several big stores.

The contestants get to show 3 pieces that represent them the most. Then the judges choose whether to sell those pieces or not. If a contestant does not get an offer, he or she is up for elimination. The mentors can save one person for another week, but, ultimately, the judges send one contestant home. This week it was an Aussie menswear designer who got to go home early. He was a bit … rood ( that might be a soft word) to both Jessica and Nicole, when mentors told him that his jackets lacked a surprise moment. So Aussie genuinely seemed like a women-disliker, and that is not going to get him far in the fashion world dominated by women….

What I really appreciate about this show is the business aspect, the judges are real buyers from well-known companies. These are the people who know which designs will sell. So, let’s get to know them. From left to right in the top row are Macy’s Caprice Willard, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Terron E. Schaefer, H&M’s Nicole Christie (Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images). My personal favorite judge is Caprice Willard. And, yes, it is very personal. Caprice started working with Macy’s as Executive Trainee, and her career blossomed to the point that now she is a Vice President for Women’s Apparel and a judge on a TV Show! Well, I have been recruited by Gap’s Retail management Program to start as a trainee in September. So Caprice’s story is very dear to me, as I hope to get to the same heights!

I hope my little summary helped you understand this new TV Show, and you will tune up next Tuesday!

Fall 2012 Colors

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Mar• 10•12

Last month I wrote about Tangerine Tango being a color of the year, but what do you pair it with? Well, the whole palette of Fall 2012 colors is right here.

A splash of glitter

The moment I noticed two-shaded nail colors on my friends, I was in love with the trend. Here is my attempt to play with it:

Main color – OPI (lost the name of the color)

Ring finger – Peach Petal by Revlon & Spot Light by NYX

Gap’s styld.by

Written By: Diana Mamlieva - Mar• 05•12

I have been more and more impressed with Gap Inc. lately. The marketing for all 5 brands has been amazing, and the new products are absolutely chic! I am loving Gap with its 1969 campaign, colored cords, and now styld.by.

Gap partnered with Fabsugar, Lookbook.nu, MOG, Refinery29, Rue, and WhoWhatWear to style their new collection. Issue 1.1 is online right now – Gap’s styld.by, and I can’t wait for more. I love the images because they are all real – it is not an advertising, and not all clothes on the models are by Gap. Enough said. My verdict is in – Gap is cool again!
